From web developers to landscape architects, get to know some of the members who spend their work day at White Noise workspace.

Andrew Priestley, The Land Project
thelandproject.co.nz

Andrew made the shift to Whangamata in 2018, and has been working remotely as a Landscape Architect since. Contracting mostly on large scale commercial projects around NZ, Andrew also takes on a few local residential jobs. His favourite thing about working in a shared space is getting into a routine of leaving work at work so he can enjoy all the great things Whanga has to offer outside of work - epic surf, a great golf course and plenty of coffee options, what more could you want!

Jenny Hight, PHSA

After holidaying here for many years, Jenny finally made Whanga home in 2020. Jenny has been working remotely for Australian based companies over the past few years and currently works as a Customer Manager for a Vocational Rehabilitation provider, supporting people in their health, wellbeing and return to employment post-injury or illness. She chose to setup at White Noise to have a professional work environment and also separate home from social/work life. Outside of work, weekends are spent with her two girls enjoying our beautiful beach, parks and walks. Over summer, you’ll find her at the Whangamata Surf Life Saving club or enjoying a drink in the sunshine.

Laura Priestley, Edisons events space, White Noise workspace and Pop Top Whangamata

In 2018, my husband Andrew and I made the move to Whangamata for better lifestyle. When we first moved here, we worked remotely but missed the interaction and routine of working in an office, which led us to open White Noise workspace. I love meeting all the interesting people that use the workspace and the small break out conversations that can sometimes make your day!

Simon Lampen, Vinsight

Meet Simon, a true remote worker that runs a Software as a Service (SaaS) business helping companies make and sell wine, beer and spirits. Many of you who have worked at White Noise might recognise his friendly face often accompanied by his furry friend Odele. Technically, Simon lives in Auckland but made the decision to buy a holiday house here once his kids all became keen surfers, and spends as much time as he can in Whangamata. Outside of work, Simon loves surfing, walking, mountain biking, the odd bit of cricket, and brewing beer... It sounds like Whangamata will 'technically' become his home in no time! ;)

Toni-Rose Brookes, Common-Good Architects
commongoodarchitects.co.nz

Meet Toni-Rose, a long time Whangamata local and architect. Toni-Rose has been working remotely for many years, and has started her own company, Common-Good Architects. She loves working on projects with enthusiastic clients who enjoy design/architecture and are after a bespoke design. Outside of work, you’ll find TR down at the beach with her partner Brad. Toni-Rose enjoys working in a shared office space as she appreciates getting out of the house to go to work and being around other people in a friendly and professional space.

Zoe Wood, Marketing and Sales Manager

Meet Zoe, Marketing and Sales Manager for Kindo who works remotely at White Noise. Zoe made the shift to Whangamata after the pandemic prompted her and her partner to consider a change of lifestyle, so why not choose her favourite place in the world! She loves spending a couple days each week with us, as it can get lonely working at home so it’s nice to have some company and routine. Outside of work, you can find Zoe renovating their home or enjoying the outdoors - whether that be walking, roller skating, swimming, kayaking from Moana Point Reserve or out exploring our beautiful country!

Mike Bonner, Project Director

Meet Mike, a Project Director who has shifted to Whangamata with his family and is working remotely for a Creative Agency. Mike and his family got stuck out of Auckland during the final lockdown giving them a good taste of what life is like on the Coromandel. Mike, Nadia and their two kids, decided to shift here permanently this year and love the lifestyle and relaxed pace of life in Whangamata. He enjoys spending a couple days a week co-working as it’s refreshing to be exposed to and work alongside other industries – something that you don’t get in a traditional office space! Outside of work you can find Mike enjoying some family time, at the beach or hitting the mountain bike park.
